Frederick Whitfeld

Died: 23 April 1915

Frederick Ashburnham Hooker Whitfeld was born on 14 December 1889, the son of Elizabeth Whitfeld. In September 1907, when he was 17 years old, Whitfeld went to work for London & County Bank at its London Lombard Street office. In 1909 London & County Bank merged with London & Westminster Bank and Whitfeld became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank. In 1912 he transferred to London Aldersgate Street branch.

Early in the First World War Whitfeld left the bank to go on military service, and by April 1915 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Middlesex Regiment. He was killed in action at Ypres on 23 April 1915. He was 25 years old.
