Errol Bruce Robertson was born in London in around 1890, the son of Atholl Bruce Robertson, a bank clerk, and his wife Maude Ellen. From about 1908 he worked for Parr's Bank.
In September 1914 Robertson left his job in the bank's London Finsbury Square branch to join the army. He served throughout most of the war, but in August 1918 Lance Corporal Robertson of the Seaforth Highlanders was severely wounded in action in France. He was brought back to hospital in England, and underwent two operations, but eventually died of his injuries on 29 April 1919. He was 29 years old.
