Frederick William Pigot was born in Orrell, Lancashire, in 1898, the son of Thomas Pigot, a bootmaker, and his wife Margaret. He worked for Williams Deacon's Bank.

In January 1917 Pigot left his job at the bank's Leigh branch in Lancashire to go on military service, becoming a Private in the Manchester Regiment. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 12 September 1917. He was 19 years old.
