Henry McWilliams was born in West Derby, Liverpool, in 1890, the son of William McWilliams, a police constable, and his wife Elizabeth. He worked as a locomotive engine cleaner before joining Parr's Bank as a messenger and porter at its Liverpool branch.
During the First World War McWilliams left the bank to go on military services as Private in The King's (Liverpool Regiment). He was killed in action on the Western Front on 28 March 1915. He was 24 years old.
