Douglas Inskipp was born on 24 June 1882 in South Norwood, London, the son of Peter Inskipp. In January 1900, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for London & County Bank. In 1909 London & County Bank merged with London & Westminster Bank, and Inskipp became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank.

In November 1914 Inskipp left his job as a clerk at the bank's Bromley branch to join the army. By April 1917 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Machine Gun Corps. He was killed in action in France on 16 April 1917. He was 34 years old and left a widow, Anne Cecilia, whom he had married in June 1916.

Thank you for remembering my Great Uncle Douglas Inskipp who was killed 16th April 1917.

His nephew was born in 1921 and was named after him, Douglas Roberts and his Great, Great nephew born in 1998 was named Matthew Douglas.

Always remembered and so proud.
