Duncan Goldsworth

Duncan William Goldsworth was born in Brentford in 1894, the eldest son of David Goldsworth, a bank worker, and his wife Catherine. In January 1912 he went to work for Parr's Bank, where his father was a branch manager, as an apprentice at its Bootle branch.

On the outbreak of war in 1914 Goldsworth was commissioned into the South Lancashire Regiment. He was posted to France in January 1915. He was slightly wounded in May 1915, and in July that year promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. He was killed in action on 25 September 1915 at the Battle of Loos. He was 21 years old.
