William Arthur Feiling was born on 5 March 1885, the son of Henry Augustus Feiling and his wife Mary. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its London Long Acre branch. He was also a member of the bank's staff sports club.

In September 1914 Feiling joined the army, serving as a Corporal in the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. He went to France with his battalion in February 1915.

Corporal William Arthur Feiling was killed in action in France on 19 August 1918. He was 33 years old and left a widow, Elsie, whom he had married in June 1916.
