Harry Croudace was born in Derbyshire in 1882, the son of Thomas Dacre Croudace, a mining engineer, and his wife Emma Elizabeth. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its Mansfield branch.
In the first months of the First World War Croudace joined the army, serving as a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. He was awarded the Military Medal for his conduct. He died in France on 17 February 1917. He was 34 years old.
