Frederick Neville Cooper was born on 4 September 1885. On New Year's Day 1904, when he was 18 years old, he went to work for London & County Bank. In 1909 London & County Bank merged with London & Westminster Bank, and Cooper became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank. He was also a member of the bank's staff sports club.
In July 1916 Cooper left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Knightsbridge branch to join the army, serving as a Rifleman in the London Regiment (London Rifle Brigade). He was killed in France on 17 June 1917. He was 31 years old.
